#1 Fan: How God Sees You
September 2, 2013Win-Win: Never Losing in Christ
September 2, 2013“I have come so that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
Could you use some extra power: more energy, more creativity, and more clarity? Read on.
We humans are the kings of what I call “The Great Disconnect.” We say we believe something, and in many cases we really do, but we don’t act on it – we fail to apply it to our lives.
We all know patience and a non-judgmental heart lead to peace, and yet? We all know resentment and unforgiveness is pure poison, and yet …? We all know worry accomplishes absolutely nothing, and, we all know driving and texting, driving 75 in the rain, running that yellow light … and yet?
But on the other hand we do believe and we do indeed act on such hollow and deceptive philosophies as: “The more money I have the happier I’ll be, so I’ll stress myself and my family getting more. The more activities my children are involved in the better off they will be. The busier I am the more important I’ll be/feel/appear.
So, as a reality check, may I ask you to stop and think about this:
“Do you believe Jesus is real? Do you believe he is God? Do you believe he loves you perfectly?
I can imagine a lot of heads nodding enthusiastically.
Have you seen in the past how God worked out difficult situations in your life, wonderfully and for the best as he promises in Romans 8:28?
Still nodding.
Okay, do you believe Jesus when he said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you …?”1
Not so many heads nodding, at least not so enthusiastically.
Do you believe: “… you have a divine power to demolish strongholds …”2 – and you have an “… incomparably great power for us who believe?”3
Do you live like it?
Was that a nod or a twitch?
Do you see the incredible disconnect here? If He is God Almighty, then live like it: Trust like it; hope … have confident expectation … like it. Call on this Power he promises us … guarantees us … through the Holy Spirit.
I believe the Holy Spirit lives in me. And I do believe in thepotential of his power within me. I will admit, though, I’ve been a little fuzzy on the guarantee of such power. And I had not previously lived it – but I am now. And now I’m seeing how much power is there for us, and how sorely we have missed it.
It must grieve our Heavenly Father to watch us live these C- lives, without the power he has so graciously provided for us.
If you believe it, live it!
The Power is already within you. The Holy Spirit is real, and he indwells saved Believers. You can tap into his power. You don’Ht have to ask for it – it’s already in you.
Lately I’ve been training myself to change my prayer from “Father, will you help …” to “Father, I’m calling on the power of your Holy Spirit.”
Do you see the difference? I’m not asking God to help me, sort of sure he will, but not so sure. I’m tapping into the power of the Holy Spirit already inside me. He’s already here, ready to leap to my side to provide the energy, creativity and clarity I so need.
Stop asking for help and start calling on this Power with confident expectation, and you will be filled to point of overflowing.
May you experience this full and overflowing Life of power God offers, and “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope and confident expectation by the power of the Holy Spirit.”4
