There’s more
You know it
Come and find … ‘It’!
Here is why.
When we first started 721 Ministries eighteen years ago, we did not know what we were doing, but we knew this: Men all around us where absolutely clueless – clueless on so many levels. They were well-meaning men, but missing it badly.
“The absentee Husband and Father,” became our mission field. They were not investing emotionally in their marriages, nor as fathers to their children. They did not know they were missing it. Their intentions were good. But no one was telling them, “There is so much more.”
And most critically, the scariest aspect of their clueless condition was they did not know Jesus at all. They knew about him, for the most part, but some not even that. They were getting their families to church on Sundays, and even some Wednesday night suppers. Many were seving as deacons and elders and such. But they were Churchians, not Christians. They were following church, not Christ.
They were in grave danger of hearing Jesus’ words on Judgment Day:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)
We made it clear, just as Jesus did, there will be no resumes on Judgment Day.
Our calling card became, “There’s more.” And we found that men were for the most part receptive to this. They were not offended. They knew there was something missing. They knew it! There knew there had to be more. They just did not know what the “It” was that was missing, and they did not know how to find it.
So we introduced them to Jesus, someone who could be their Savior – as in save them from Hell, a very real place – and be their best friend.
Now for you, reading this today, man or woman, the call is still true for you. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, no matter how invested you are in knowing Jesus, there is always more. We can always go deeper. And the riches that await are immeasurable.
So I close with these beautiful words of scripture, because our call echoes these calls from the Father and from Jesus:
This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah 6:16 Bold added)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 Bold added)
