Red Lights – Green Lights

On Jesus’ last night with his disciples, he tells them how they can and will live with the Holy Spirit’s power after he ascends to the Father. Then, as he prepares to ascend for the final time he reminds them:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you …. (Acts 1:8)
I will boldly and confidently declare that upwards of 95% of Christians are totally missing living with this power.
Paul has this to say about living with Holy Spirit power:
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Cor. 10:3-4, bold added)
Have you – you, reading this today – “received power?” Do you live with this “divine power?” Last week we examined the red lights from the Spirit: “No, stop. Do not do that.” And his green lights: “Yes, I want you to do that.” As well as his yellow lights: “Let’s wait, pause.”
Today let’s look at the idea of Energy – Clarity – Creativity. As we learn to lean on and lean into the power of the Spirit, we will begin to live with a newfound sense of energy. Passages such as these start to make more sense:
Energy
“I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” (Phil. 4:13)
“To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” (Col. 1:29)
Clarity
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. (Eph. 1:18)
Because: “If all you can see is what you see then you’re not seeing all there is to see.” (Tony Evans)
And: “We don’t see things as they are – we see things as we are.”
Creativity
“For we are God’s fine craftsmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Cor. 5:17)
All we really need to do is look at God’s incredible creativity in his creation all around us, to understand that he can and will impart his same creativity to us.

I have learned to involve the Holy Spirit in business and personal affairs. He will absolutely provide energy, clarity, and creativity in your business decisions, in your personal day-to-day life, and even in raising your children. We can all use all three when it comes to children and grandchildren!
To conclude I will share my own personal witness to this:
We started 721 Ministries twenty years ago, in May of 2004. By 2007 I was burning out. I was overwhelmed by the labor of coming up with topics every week. And those “typical men” were sapping the life out of me. (Ladies can I get an “Amen”?)
All we were doing back then was a weekly meeting in Spartanburg and Greenville. No radio shows, no Putting Greens, no books, no videos. No guest preaching, no weddings, no funerals, no speaking to FCA’s and all that. The Laurens, Columbia and Charleston meetings were still yet to come.
But then I started to call on the power of the Holy Spirit and everything began to change. Everything. Now I know exactly what Peter, himself having learned to live with Holy Spirit power, meant when he said,
“For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21, Bold added)
You, too, can be carried along with a newfound sense of energy, clarity, and creativity. It is indeed a process, so start today calling on him, asking him to join you in the details of your life. He is real. He will do it.
And everything will change.
